Bob Alvarado, Executive Officer
Mr. Alvarado was first elected in 2001, and in August 2005 was re-elected without opposition.   During his tenure, he has negotiated a new multi-year Carpenters Master Agreement for Northern California.   He was a leader in the creation of the Basic Crafts Alliance, a partnership between the Carpenters, Laborers and Operating Engineers aimed at ending disruptive jurisdictional disputes.   His most recent project is the Basic Crafts Workers Compensation Fund, an insurance program that utilizes Alternative Dispute Resolution to improve service to injured workers while reducing employers' Workers Compensation costs.

Prior to 2001, Mr. Alvarado was the Central District Manager of the NCCRC, which was formed in May 1997 through a consolidation of three District Councils.   From 1995 until the creation of the NCCRC Mr. Alvarado was the Administrative Officer of the Bay Counties District Council.   He has worked for the Union since 1987 in a variety of positions, including Organizer, Business Representative and Senior Business Representative.   He entered the Carpenters Apprenticeship in 1972, and has experience as a journeyman, steward, foreman, and superintendent on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

In addition to his union background, Mr. Alvarado has an extensive record of community involvement.   He currently serves as a member of the board of the State Compensation Insurance Fund.   He was appointed to the Contractor's State License Board by Governor Wilson, and served from 1993 until 2000.   He served on the Commission on Health and Safety and Worker's Compensation from 1995 to 1996.   He also was a member of the Pinole Planning Commission from 1983 to 1995, serving 10 years as Chairman.

Mr. Alvarado has extensive experience in collective bargaining, and is well versed in the issues facing the construction industry in California.   He serves as co-chairman of the Corporate Board for the Carpenters' Funds Administrative Office.   The Carpenters' Trust Funds for Northern California have combined assets of over 2.4 Billion Dollars.
