Augie Beltran appointed Central District Manager
Augie Beltran, NCCRC Central District Manager, settles in to his new office.
Brother Augie Beltran, a member of Local 152, has been appointed to serve as the Regional Council's Central District Manager. He takes over this position after the retirement of Cal Watterson, who served in the position since 2001.
"It's an honor and a privilege to be appointed to this position," Beltran said. "I've been in the trade for 24 years, and this gives me an opportunity to give back to the union."
In his new role, Brother Beltran will oversee the operations of Carpenters Locals 22, 152 and 713, as well as Pile Drivers Local 34, Millwrights Local 102, Drywall Lathers Local 9068 and Industrial Carpenters Local 2236.
"Our highest priority is to get out ahead of potential jobs, so our contractors get the projects," Beltran said, "and our members get the work."
Toward that end, Beltran is looking forward to networking in the local and regional community. "We've got to work on Project Labor Agreements, with the developers' community and elected officials," he said, "and tell them why it makes sense to use union workers. We're more efficient, cleaner, faster—and we get the job done right."
Prior to being appointed as Central District Manager by NCCRC Executive Officer Bob Alvarado, Brother Beltran served as a Council Representative, with duties assigned by the Executive Officer. He joined the union in early 1989, and began his career with the union as an organizer in 1997, before moving on to become a senior field representative.
As he moves to his new position, he keeps a central focus. "In these times," Beltran said, "it's all about finding creative ways to put people to work."
