Attend union meetings, win a truck!
We have a winner for the 2011 truck! At the January Council meeting, Sister Kayla Franklin, Delegate from Local 701, prepares to read the winning number as NCCRC Controller Steve Grannis checks the list of eligible members. Michael Gilmore, Local 713, was the lucky one this year!
The Regional Council Executive Committee, at their meeting in December, approved another truck raffle for calendar year 2012. The drawing will be held at the delegate meeting in January 2013.
Consider this: the odds are far better than many raffles. Just three years ago, only 500 people qualified for the raffle. Even if that number tripled, your odds would still be better than 1 in 1,500—and it's for a truck! Maybe it's time to attend more union meetings…
The rules are as follows: The raffle is open to all members in good standing throughout the year except officers and employees of the NCCRC, local unions and affiliated entities (e.g., trust funds).
Members will earn one entry in the drawing by attending at least 8 union meetings at the same local in calendar 2012 (limit is 1 meeting per month). All 8 meetings must be attended while qualifying under rule number 1 (above). Limit 1 entry in the raffle per member.
Locals will be responsible for documenting which members qualify for the drawing under these rules, and will send the NCCRC Controller a list of such members after their last union meeting in December 2012.
The truck will be an F-150 with no more than 50,000 miles at the time of the raffle. It will be given on an as-is basis and a 1099 will be issued to the winner, as required by law.
