| I am lucky to have a good union plan. But I come from a socialist country, and I can tell you that government control doesn’t work. They will take something from us. |
I’m happy with what I have. You can’t live without health insurance. I don’t follow the details, but people say it will have to be a government plan of some kind. |
Are we going to be like England? It’s a mess over there. It’s like a meat market. But this system is broke. Costs are too high. It costs $575 for a checkup for my son with a doctor who doesn’t take our plan. |
What about all the people who don’t have coverage? We have to do something for them. You got two or three kids and no insurance, you got big trouble. It’s not right. |
Government should do something. Too many people can’t afford it.
|
| It’s good for everyone to have health care, if it’s done fairly. My brother doesn’t have it, so they go to the county or they go without. I’d like something to help him. |
There needs to be a tax on those companies that don’t pay—a pool to pay people’s benefits, or a separate government-run plan. We wind up paying for it anyway when people have to go to the emergency room. |
Why screw it up for the majority who have health care, for the minority who don’t?
|
If everyone gets something, I don’t want to pay more. So whatever we do, it needs to be fair. If government pays, okay. If I have something better, I’ll pay for that. It just needs to be fair. |
Some people who have health insurance deserve it, some don’t. Why should I pay for those who don’t? I’ve worked hard for what I have, a lot of years without insurance. |
