A Brief History of NCCRC
The Northern California Carpenters Regional Council was created in 1997 through a merger between three “District” Councils that previously covered the 46 Northern California Counties. This change allowed our union to better reflect the construction market in the region, and to react to market trends throughout the state.

The artwork above, which was the original logo for our Council, reflects those 3 Districts - the Bay Area, Central California, and Sacramento. The recognition of Northern California as a region dates back to the creation of our Pension and Health & Welfare funds, which covered all 46 counties from their creation in the late 1950s.

Today, Carpenters and contractors can work throughout the region without loss of benefits, or having to change crews. Local unions still provide a connection to the local communities where our members live and work. Having a regional structure for benefits and collective bargaining makes us more effective and efficient, which serves our members, our employers and our industry well.
