This Labor Day, Commit to Helping Preserve the Rights of American Workers
wage protection, would be in jeopardy of repeal.
1. Register. Make sure that your voting status is current; or, register to vote.
2. Research your state’s candidates. Look at their voting record. How do they vote on labor rights? Did they vote to increase minimum wage? What is their position on Davis-Bacon and the Highway Bill, or the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement and Fast Track (trade promotion authority)? Do they support federal laws to prevent payroll fraud, which hurts honest contractors and steals Union jobs?
3. Be sure you know where your assigned polling station is and keep in mind the hours of voting. It’s a simple step, but it avoids last-minute frustrations and a potential lost vote. Or, better yet, vote by mail if you are able so that you don’t have to worry about it on Election Day.
4. Talk to your family, friends and the Carpenters on your job site about the importance of this election and what is at stake. Ask them to step-up to the plate and register to vote - and then vote on November 4.
5. Vote! Select your candidates based on how that legislator will best help you and your family achieve—and maintain—a great quality of life.
