What Benefits Do Carpenters Get For
Being a UBC Member?

Guaranteed wages
Every UBC member has a guaranteed hourly wage agreed upon in a written contract. All employers of UBC members have signed agreements with the union and contribute to our members' health insurance and pension benefit plans.

Training
As a member of the Carpenters Union, and after you finish your Apprenticeship Program, we will continue to provide education and training to you for life.   Ongoing programs include Health & Safety courses, Journey level Advancement Skills Classes, and Certification and Qualification upgrades.   Our commitment is to keep pace with changing construction technology and to keep our members' skills current and marketable.

Health & Welfare (Please see www.carpenterfunds.com for full details)
There are three medical coverage options to choose from depending on where a participant lives – Health Net, Kaiser and the Indemnity Plan. Health Net and Kaiser are HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations). Only participants residing in the HMO service area may elect HMO coverage. The Indemnity Plan is self-insured and uses a PPO ( Preferred Provider Organization) which provides financial incentives to use preferred providers.
Dental benefits are provided through Delta Dental to all eligible active participants.

Disability Benefits
$150 per week for up to 26 weeks if you suffer a non-work related illness or injury which prevents you from working. Please see the Carpenter Fund website for further information.

Pension
Paid if you retire at or after age 60 and after 10 years of plan participation. Please see the Carpenter Fund website for further information.
